Banquet

Hooray for Vinyard Church on 8th & Main!

We have found a location for our banquet tomorrow night, so as planned - we will meet at 6:00pm at the Vinyard Church in Rolla.  The address is 708 N. Main St. - Rolla  A big thank you to the Welshymer's for making that contact possible.

Mrs. Homan has secured an RSVP for 70 people.  Beacause our space is limited to a 100 people, please RSVP to Susan Homan, if you have not done so, in order to make further accomidations if needed. 573-759-7444

I am also in need of a few hands for setting up tomorrow, if there are a few Dad's or Brother's that are available between 4-5, I would greatley appreciate you help. Don't worry, no speaking parts, just manual labor =)

Hope to see you all tomorrow!

Help!

We have recently discovered that Redeemer is not available for Tuesday night's banquet.  With all that has been on our plates in the last couple of weeks, we've had some mis-communication on the location.  We are trying our hardest to find a new location so that we can keep the same date and time, however thought we should ask for you help in finding a new place in case some families might have just the soloution.  Ideally, we would need something with a kitchen and room for at least 75 people (a strong at least =).  If anyone has any ideas (home churches etc.) please contact me ASAP =)

Thank you!

Tomorrow

K gang - riminder to meet at Kroger at 12:30 tomorrow so that we can be on the road by 12:45.

Just a side note for Friday's schedule.  We are playing in Republic, not to be mistaken by Republic Road.  The bad news is, is that the town of Republic is alot farther away than republic rd.  The good news is, is that the facility is pretty nice. The drive will take about 45minutes from where we are staying...sorry kids.

We spoke about doing something Friday evening as a team and I thought that having a game night at the church would be pretty inexpensive and alot of fun.  So, if you have a favorite game (outburst, pictionary etc.) bring em with you.  As far as food goes, some talked about an outing for pizza and then there was mention of eating at the church. So, we will have the option of going out to eat, but please dont feel like you have to.  If you'd rather stay at the church and eat, that will be fine as well.

K, I think that's all for now - sleep tight girls!

Here it is

As of 12:30pm today, this is what I have!  I pulled this from the website so if you can't open this...our first game is at 4:00pm on Thursday at The Courts.  (4136 E. Kearney) We play SWMO first game, so it should be a great match!  For Caravanning to the church, please meet at Kroger parking lot at 12:30pm.  With the traffic delays on I-44 this will allow us 2 hours driving time and get us to the church in time to drop off food and bags.  If you are going ahead of us, please be at the Courts by 3pm and notify me - so that we know not to wait for you.  Please remember $5 gas money for the vehicle you are riding in and $5/family if you are staying at the church.

So far this is what I have,

Church:
Corri and mom
Alida and Dad
Rebbeckah and Lisa

Rides:
Lisa - Rebbeckah, Myself, Anna, Ruger - has room for 2 more
David - Alida, Grace and Flora

Any one else willing to drive? If I don't have this correct please let me know - otherwise we still have many girls that need to be accounted for, so please let me know your plans as soon as they are made - thanks so much!

Oh, and the lady miners are playing tomorrow night at 7.  Coach Lisa may have more info if your interested in going - see you tomorrow!

Reminders and Banquet

Just a quick reminder to send me an RSVP for staying at the church and letting me know if your parents are willing to drive or if you need a ride.  I have only received three responses for rides and staying at the church.

Pictures - please send any pictures from this season to Haleigh via email or you can bring them to her at practice on Tuesday.  Collin is generously working on a slide show presentation for the banquet coming November 10th.

Again, still no word on a schedule for this Thursday, will let you know soon - hopefully =)

Have a great day!

Hello volleyball families!  Just a couple of reminders...

Varsity Practice today from 3:30 - 5:00. (JV welcome to serve/hit at us :)

Nationals - Varsity is traveling to Nationals the 5-7th of Nov.  As of now, I still don't have any details as to where and when.  However I do know we have a church available to stay in.  If you are interested in staying at the church, it is $5/ family (to help cover cost of custodial crew).  Please let me know via email if you are planning on staying at the church.  We would also love to welcome JV/JR. high families to stay if you are interested in coming to cheer the varsity along! Please let me know by the end of this weekend so that we can make other arrangements if necessary.

Rides to Nationals - Any volunteer drivers?  If we have any parents willing to drive, please also let me know by this Sunday, so that we can start making ride arrangements for families. Thank you in advance!

Club volleyball information:  I've had several girls intereted in finding out more info on club volleyball this year.  I have attached the tryout information, along with the directors email address. He would love to hear from you if you are interested in playing! duane@ravevolleyball.com

Next Tuesday:  We will be practicing at Redeemer from 3:30 - 5:00 next Tuesday. This will be the last practice before Nationals, so let's make it a good one girls!

For club volleyball interest

Hello everybody,

just wanted to remind/ask everyone to please register online with USAV
before tryouts. the website is www.gatewayvb.org there are links for new
and renewing members. we will send in one check from the club to pay the
registration fees. if for some crazy reason you decide not to play we can
have you removed from the list and not pay for you.
i think as of now there are only two coaches and 5 players signed up.
we can't sign up for any tournaments or really officially do anything
until everyone is on the USAV's list so the sooner we get it done the
better.

thanks,
duane

Couple of things

I have received several emails asking the same questions - probably because I forgot to put the info in the previous email =)  So, I am just sending another to clarify tomorrow night.

Games are here in Rolla at Redeemer
GIrls please be at Redeemer at 5
We have not heard anything about the weekend of the 24th so we will not schedule anything for that weekend.  Thank you for being so flexible in keeping it open for volleyball
A reminder that our end of season banquet is Tuesday, November 10th.  More details will come in the next week.

Again, thank you for all of your hard work and flexibility throughout this volleyball season!

Game

Okay families, tomorrow's game schedule:

JV plays Maranatha at 6:00pm and Varsity plays Maranatha at 7:00pm.

For the week ahead:

Both Springfield teams have called and cancelled games for Tuesday the 20th, so we will continue with practice that day -  JV & Varsity, 3:30 - 5:00pm.  Unless I can find another game for JV (which I am trying to do), this will be the last practice for JV.  Varsity will continue to practice for Nationals Tuesday, Oct. 27th, Friday, Oct. 30th and Tuesday, Nov. 3rd.  All practices will be from 3:30 - 5:00.

On the Nationals note - I spoke with all of the Varsity girls at Tuesday's game about the interest to compete at Nationals.  My concern was spending money on the entry fee for Nationals if the girls weren't interested in traveling.  I got an overwhelming response of interest - so I have made the commitment to sign the team up.  As on the claendar, Nationals is the 5th - 7th of November in Springfield and as usual, I have not heard anything about our itenerary. We do have a church for our families to stay if needed - we suggest a $5 donation/ family to help with custodial cost.  As soon as I get information about a game schedule, I will post it - we would love to have as much support as possible, so even if we have "non-varsity" families that would like to attend and need a place to stay, we would love to have you at the church.  Again, staying at the church is not manditory, however, is there if families would like to utilize it.

See you tomorrow!

Re: Where and when tomorrow - finally

Hello fellow volleyball families:

I am writing to ask everyone a favor.  As many of you know, we have been desperatly trying to sell our house since April since Mitch has been working out of town since then.  We have not had any offers yet.  Our contract with our realtor expires at the end of this month and we want to get a new realtor.  Does anyone have one they can recommend- especially someone good at selling houses quickly?  Thank you,

Knights Tourney Info

I have found a place to stay!!!!  Due to the several emails about this weekend, I am sending out an overview for this weekend's tournament.

Schedule - attached is the last revision for this week's game schedule.  Please note that our first game is at 3 on Friday. Players will need to be at The Courts - dressed and ready to play by 2:00pm  The address for the Courts is: 4136 E. Kearney

Rides/Lodging - Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church is willing to host our girls for Friday night.  If you are interested in staying Friday night, I am asking for a $5 donation to go the church to cover janitorial costs.  We don't ask for this donation when we stay at Hillcrest Presbyterian because my family serves as the janitorial staff and cleans up after each of our stays. There will be no supervision provided for the group as a whole. We see this as an alternative to spending extra dollars on a hotel/motel room.  If you are unable to take your daughter to the tournament, please feel free to contact another team family to arrange travel and lodging supervision. Idealy we would like 1 adult/5 kids -  I will be staying at the church as a representative of RHAA, but not as a supervisor. As far as rides, please arrange with other team-mates travelling arrangements if you are unable to drive your daughter to Springfield.  $5 is a good gas reimbursment suggestion. The address to the church is: 722 W Atlantic - Springfield.  I will have a key to the church and will open it up before and after our last game Friday evening.  There is a kitchen and refridgeration if you would like to bring your own food to cook.  This facility doesnt have available beds, so please plan on bringing sleeping bags or air matresses.

*  MoDot has issued an hour delay alert on I-44 from 184exit to Sugar Tree Rd.  Please take this delay into consideration for your drive tme.

I will be there for a while after practice tonight, please feel free to come with any questions I may answer.

Peace,

Pizza Inn Fundraiser

Here is an updated list of those who are able to participate in the Pizza Inn Fundraiser.

Working the entire time:  Alida & Sonja Hazell,  Elise & Tess Hamacher, Desi Maxwell, Laura Balch, Flora Caudill, Jenny Williams,

Working from 4:15 to 6:00:  Abby Hall  & Marty Collins

Working from 6:00 - 8:00  Shaylynn Rackers

Adults:  Pam Williams, Jeanine Maxwell, Dawn Hall?

That gives us 8 girls for the entire time, and one more between the 2 shifts.  It would be nice to have at least one more working the 2nd shift to give us exactly 12 workers the entire time.  More would be better just in case anyone has a last minute change in plans.  We have to have at least 12 workers or they will not let us do it.

Matt Collins has also volunteered, and I could possibly put Cordell & Ryan to work as well...

Remember to keep inviting hungry people!

Thanks everyone!

Pam Williams

Re:

To help in planning/decision making about this weekend, I thought I'd share that The Courts are on the far eastern edge of Springfield (we played there last year). You get there by getting off  I-44 before you reach Springfield, at Exit 84, I-744 (old route 66).

I did some checking on hotels/motels, and the best deal I found was the Eagles' Lodge, which is on Glenstone Blvd in Springfield, just south of I-744 (route 66). Their internet rate for 2 Q beds is $47. They do have a continental breakfast as well, and Andy's baseball team stayed there 2 weekends ago and he said it was fine. I just called to check on a group rate, and it is higher than the internet ($55), so it would be better to book individually through the internet if you are thinking motel overnight. I did not look farther east, like in Marshfield, which might be a possibility.

I am not sure of our plans, but look forward to talking to some of you tonight about how we might help each other out with arrangements for travel and/or housing. I am seriously considering driving home Friday night and leaving at 6 am Sat morning to return, but that only makes sense if some girls want to/can ride with me and share the gas cost - cheaper than motel, but more traveling...

A note from your coach

It was a goal to be as prepared for this season as possible and not have any schedule changes, however we have had to have a few.  Thank you all for your flexibility and understanding.  Our goal is to get as many playing opportunities for our girls as possible, and with that - we have had to make a few last minute changes.

Upcoming Events

Upcoming events to keep an eye out for:

Craft Fair - Oct. 17th
I haven't received any commitment forms, so we are cancelling this event.

Pizza Inn Fundraising Night
Don't forget our Pizza Inn Fundraising night is set for Sunday, October 4th from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. The Williams family is still looking for help, please contact them if you are available...girls, this is how we are paying for our equipment, I am looking for most of our players to be at this event.

Tuesday
We will be hosting a home game next Tuesday, September 29th.  Jr. High will start a game against them at 6:30 with JV to follow at 7:30.  Varsity and JV will have practice from 3:30 - 5:00 that same night in preparation for our upcoming Springfield tournament

Knights Tournament
JV and Varsity will be traveling to Springfield October 2nd & 3rd for a tournament. I have tried contacting the Knights team daily to find out what our schedule will be however have not gotten a hold of them. As scheduled, please plan on being in Springfield Friday and Saturday until further notice.

Rides/sleeping arrangements - we were unable to locate a facility for our girls to stay. With the large number of girls traveling, it will be the responsibility of the parents to arrange rides/lodging for players this Friday and Saturday. If a parent is unable to take their own child to Springfield, please feel free to call other team-mates to work out arrangements for a ride and payment for gas.  RHAA has been taking care of ride arrangements and lodging this season and in past seasons, however with the difficulty of collecting monies and small amount of drivers available, we are unable to continue to provide this aspect for games and tournaments.

Food - If you are unable to travel to this tournament with your daughter, please send enough food or money for 2 meals on Friday and 3 meals on Saturday. Mom Lisa was extremely generous to share her cooler of food with the varsity girls last weekend.  Although she was prepared to feed the hungry, she is not expected to.  As Mr. Hazell had suggested, if girls ate out of Mrs. Applegate's cooler, money needs to go into Mrs. Applegate's cooler. We are extremely appreciative for all the help of our team-mom and want to make sure we don't put her in a bind with feeling like she needs to feed our team.

With being in the middle of volleyball season and tournaments, I understand how busy we all may be getting.  Please keep in mind the reason we participate in tournaments is to ensure the most amount of playing time for our girls with the least amount of travel time. We get anywhere from 6-8 games in one trip in a Springfield Tournament vs. 1 game each trip to other locations. Thank you for your flexibility in travel arrangements and schedule changes.  We communicate with you as soon as we have information from the other teams on what's going on.  It may seem that because we give out information later than sooner, we are not upholding our end of responsibility, however it is just really difficult to get information any earlier from the other teams. As I have been called to serve these girls with my whole heart, let us not lose sight of their desire to play because of the work that goes with it.  Instead, let's go the extra mile to finish well.

Sincerely,

Coach

Sincerely,

Coach

Updates

Rolla Royals 2009

A note from your coach

It was a goal to be as prepared for this season as possible and not have any schedule changes, however we have had to have a few.  Thank you all for your flexibility and understanding.  Our goal is to get as many playing opportunities for our girls as possible, and with that - we have had to make a few last minute changes.

Upcoming Events

Upcoming events to keep an eye out for:

Craft Fair - Oct. 17th
I have not received any vendor contracts as of right now.  In order to properly solicit the event, we will need to have all vendors by Oct. 1 - which is right around the corner.  Please forward any contracts you may have ASAP.  If we don't fill 10 slots by Oct. 1, we will have to cancel the event and try for another type of fundraising opportunity.

Pizza Inn Fundraising Night
Don't forget our Pizza Inn Fundraising night is set for Sunday, October 4th from 5:00pm - 8:00pm.  Help for the night is greatly appreciated and even more so, soliciting the event.  Please see Mrs. Williams for more information about helping with this.

Schedule Change
We will be hosting a home game next Tuesday, September 29th.  Jr. High will start a game against them at 6:30 with JV to follow at 7:30.  Varsity and JV will have practice from 3:30 - 5:00 that same night in preparation for our upcoming Springfield tournament.

Knights Tournament
JV and Varsity will be traveling to Springfield October 2nd & 3rd for a tournament.  As of right now, we do not have arrangements for lodging. (The church is unavailable to us) I am working on getting another location, however we may have to look into the possibility of getting a hotel room.  We will keep you posted.

Concessions

The Collins and Williams families have done an amazing job taking care of our concessions.  A big thank you to them and to all of the parents who have helped volunteer at games!

Springfield Eagles Tournament

Great job last night Ladies....you sure do make my job easy!

Okay, for Friday and Saturday - we will be meeting at Kroger at 10:45am to leave by 11:00am.  Mr. Hazell is driving his 15 passenger van and will have room for our entire team, yeah Mr. Hazell!  We should arrive in Springfeild in between 12:30 and 1:00.  This will give us time to get set up at the church and then head over to the tournament. Below are directions to the tournament in case any additional family is driving, along with our brackett schedule for Friday's game.  The Springfield Eagles will also be hosting a Christian Fellowship BBQ that evening that our team will attend.  Please also see below for specifics.

Girls, please have your uniforms on and be ready for game play in the van prior to leaving Rolla.  This will eliminate an hour (at least =) of lolly-gaggin' around and allow us to get to our game place ready to warm up;not ready to get ready.  Please remember our rules about shorts and cell phones.  With the shorts, if there is ANY doubt, you might as well just change into a differnet/longer pair.

This weekend should be lots of fun - I and Coach Lisa will be staying with the team throughout the night and our cell phone numbers are as follows:

Coach Covey - 573-201-5375
Coach/mom Lisa -573- 202-3382
Mr. Hazell -573-578-4512

Central Bible College, Springfield – SWMO Eagles
As you head west on I-44, take Exit 77 (Hwy. 13 or Kansas Expwy.).  Turn right onto 13/Kansas and immediately turn right again onto Norton Road.  You'll pass the Zoo and the Fairgrounds on your left and come to a stoplight at Grant Ave.  Turn left and go half a block; take the first right into the CBC parking lot.  As soon as you turn in to the lot, make a sharp left and go north to the end of the lot.  Make a sharp right turn and head east through the lot for half a block or so. You should be able to see a building in front of you and down the hill, with a lot of glass on the front.  You'll probably see the trophy cases inside and people milling around the snack area. Follow a winding road to the left and then right into the lot by the gym. Use the entrance on the west side of the building that has stairs leading up to it.  The gate is right inside.  It's easier than it sounds!

BBQ Information
We are wanting to host a simple, barbecue sandwich dinner on Friday night for any interested teams and families - just as a time of fun, food, and fellowship! It would begin between 7:15 and 7:30, and conclude by 9:00 at the latest. We are asking that people contribute either $2 per person or $5 per family to help offset cost. The location will be Grant Avenue Baptist Church, 1033 N Grant Ave, Springfield, MO 65803 (approx 5 minutes from CBC).
