Rolla Royals 2009

A note from your coach

It was a goal to be as prepared for this season as possible and not have any schedule changes, however we have had to have a few.  Thank you all for your flexibility and understanding.  Our goal is to get as many playing opportunities for our girls as possible, and with that - we have had to make a few last minute changes.

Upcoming Events

Upcoming events to keep an eye out for:

Craft Fair - Oct. 17th
I haven't received any commitment forms, so we are cancelling this event.

Pizza Inn Fundraising Night
Don't forget our Pizza Inn Fundraising night is set for Sunday, October 4th from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. The Williams family is still looking for help, please contact them if you are available...girls, this is how we are paying for our equipment, I am looking for most of our players to be at this event.

Tuesday
We will be hosting a home game next Tuesday, September 29th.  Jr. High will start a game against them at 6:30 with JV to follow at 7:30.  Varsity and JV will have practice from 3:30 - 5:00 that same night in preparation for our upcoming Springfield tournament

Knights Tournament
JV and Varsity will be traveling to Springfield October 2nd & 3rd for a tournament. I have tried contacting the Knights team daily to find out what our schedule will be however have not gotten a hold of them. As scheduled, please plan on being in Springfield Friday and Saturday until further notice.

Rides/sleeping arrangements - we were unable to locate a facility for our girls to stay. With the large number of girls traveling, it will be the responsibility of the parents to arrange rides/lodging for players this Friday and Saturday. If a parent is unable to take their own child to Springfield, please feel free to call other team-mates to work out arrangements for a ride and payment for gas.  RHAA has been taking care of ride arrangements and lodging this season and in past seasons, however with the difficulty of collecting monies and small amount of drivers available, we are unable to continue to provide this aspect for games and tournaments.

Food - If you are unable to travel to this tournament with your daughter, please send enough food or money for 2 meals on Friday and 3 meals on Saturday. Mom Lisa was extremely generous to share her cooler of food with the varsity girls last weekend.  Although she was prepared to feed the hungry, she is not expected to.  As Mr. Hazell had suggested, if girls ate out of Mrs. Applegate's cooler, money needs to go into Mrs. Applegate's cooler. We are extremely appreciative for all the help of our team-mom and want to make sure we don't put her in a bind with feeling like she needs to feed our team.

With being in the middle of volleyball season and tournaments, I understand how busy we all may be getting.  Please keep in mind the reason we participate in tournaments is to ensure the most amount of playing time for our girls with the least amount of travel time. We get anywhere from 6-8 games in one trip in a Springfield Tournament vs. 1 game each trip to other locations. Thank you for your flexibility in travel arrangements and schedule changes.  We communicate with you as soon as we have information from the other teams on what's going on.  It may seem that because we give out information later than sooner, we are not upholding our end of responsibility, however it is just really difficult to get information any earlier from the other teams. As I have been called to serve these girls with my whole heart, let us not lose sight of their desire to play because of the work that goes with it.  Instead, let's go the extra mile to finish well.

Sincerely,

Coach
